We provide precision calibration and repair services on electrical, pressure, temperature, dimensional, torque, mass, and RF/microwave standards, both in our Phoenix lab and at client sites. ABOUT THE ROLE
The Calibration Technician is a mid-level bench technician performing routine and non-routine calibration and repair work under the supervision of a Lead or Senior Calibration Technician. This role handles calibrations independently within their qualified disciplines and contributes to lab throughput, cleanliness, and workflow. Reports to the Lead Calibration Technician.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Calibration and Repair
• Perform calibrations on secondary standards and customer units-under-test across your qualified disciplines
• Follow published calibration procedures precisely and document all findings in the calibration record
• Identify out-of-tolerance conditions and escalate to your Lead or Senior Technician for adjudication or repair
• Support pre-calibration receiving inspection and post-calibration final inspection
Lab Operations
• Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and traceability of the calibration bench
• Support inventory management of standards, consumables, and customer property
• Coordinate with the Customer Service Representative on job status updates
• Follow all safety, ESD, and cleanroom protocols as applicable to your discipline
Continuous Learning
• Progress toward Senior Calibration Technician tier through demonstrated proficiency in additional disciplines and passing internal proficiency checks
• Participate in the Applied AI training program
• Attend continuing-education sessions and vendor training as scheduled
Customer-Facing Support
• Occasionally accompany a Lead or Senior Technician on customer on-site work as a second technician using company vehicles
• Represent the laboratory professionally in customer environments
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Required
• High school diploma or GED, with completion of a formal metrology training program (military PMEL, industry apprenticeship, or two-year technical program) OR equivalent hands-on experience
• 2+ years hands-on calibration experience, either in an accredited laboratory or as a military PMEL technician
• Working understanding of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 traceability and calibration certificate requirements
• Comfortable reading calibration procedures, uncertainty budgets, and technical documentation
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
• Valid Arizona driver's license
• Willingness to progress through the technician tier framework toward Senior tier
Preferred
• Military PMEL or TMDE background
• ASQ CCT candidate or holder
• Prior experience with Fluke Calibration MET/TEAM, Cal Lab Solutions, or comparable calibration management systems
• Familiarity with the Applied AI-augmented calibration workflow
• Bilingual English/Spanish (some customer facilities in the Phoenix area serve Spanish-speaking teams)
